Vaccine Equity Workgroup (VEW)

About:

The Vaccine Equity Workgroup (VEW) is a network of community partners in San Bernardino County (SBC) collaborating to address health disparities and inequities in vaccine access and adherence for residents.

As of August 2024, the workgroup has re-envisioned itself using the collective impact framework to provide a structured approach to eliminating vaccine inequity.

Workgroup members have identified challenges and barriers within the community, creating four focus sub-groups to address specific at-risk populations:

  • Latinx/Hispanic
  • Young Children (under 5)/Youth
  • Rural
  • Indigenous/Native

Community partners meet monthly to co-create, plan, and implement strategies to address issues in areas such as vaccine education, literacy, awareness, accessibility, and hesitancy for these focus populations.

The aim of this workgroup is to create a safe space where community members can work harmoniously, sharing their authentic selves, vulnerabilities, lived experiences, and talents; ultimately bridging gaps and dismantling barriers to ensure equitable vaccination rates.
