The Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk offices are open to the public by appointment only. We are joining other government agencies in controlling the number of individuals entering our offices in an effort to protect the public and slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. COVID-19 Emergency Status: we are still open for business!

To our valued customers: Although the offices of Land Use Services are closed to the public during this public health emergency, we are doing everything in our power to maintain our normal operations. We are still accepting land use and development permit applications. We are still reviewing plans, issuing permits and performing inspection services. We are still investigating complaints of potential code violations. We have implemented the following changes to protect your health and ours:

Customer Service:

We will not be meeting people at our counters or by appointment. Our customer service will rely heavily on e-mail phone and on-line communication. Our contact information is below. 

Applications

All applications should be submitted through EZ on-line permits (EZOP). Rare exceptions will require approval to submit by e-mail or US mail.  EZOP Portal link. 

We will assist you with EZOP and with general questions by phone or e-mail. Please use the customer service e-mail below. 

Inspection Services

We will not perform inspections inside an occupied dwelling, but don’t let that deter your project. We can conduct a virtual inspection using video from a smart phone or tablet. In some cases, we may accept a contractor’s certification, or we may delay the final inspection.

For other inspections, please respect social distancing requirements. Allow the inspector to work alone. If we need anything or have any questions, we will let you know.

Code Enforcement

We continue to receive and investigate code violation complaints. Please understand that we do so from a safe distance. Regarding short-term rentals (STRs):  Code Enforcement staff will investigation complaints of owners continuing to rent STR units in violation of the stay-at-home order related to COVID-19. Our enforcement actions may result in suspension or revocation of an STR permit, but we will not force people to vacate the property. Short Term Rental press release.

The San Bernardino County Library is temporarily closing all 32 branches until further notice for the health and safety of our library customers.
